Below are descriptions of some of the ways you can get involved.
Document Translation - TOP NEED!
Translate to English from Spanish, French, or indigenous Central American languages. The types of documents include handwritten declarations or client narratives, newspaper articles, birth certificates and other legal documents.
Interpretation Services - TOP NEED!
We need volunteers to sit in on client meetings or phone calls and interpret between Spanish and English, French and English, and assorted other languages. Sometimes this may include reading through legal documents aloud for clients.
Volunteer Attorneys - TOP NEED!
For lawyers who have pro bono time to give toward assistance ranging from Employment Authorization Document (work permit) help to court hearings.
Paralegals and Legal Assistants
Help maintain client files, research, write, and generally assist our attorneys
Research
Conduct research in academic journals, newspapers and other sources in various languages for information that corroborates particular incidents or conditions that have affected our clients.
Drive-a-Client
Help our clients get to appointments, ICE check-ins, and court hearings safely and legally.
Assorted other volunteer needs include office assistance with scanning and filing,
web and tech services, cleaning, and more.
